Mr. Michael A. Pierce
President
Mike is a 16-year resident of Maryland, active in his local community association, and President of the Cromwell Valley Park Council. He served on the Baltimore County Advisory Commission on Environmental Quality during 2009-2010 and is a regular participant in efforts to enact clear, unambiguous legislation. Ms. Ruth Mascari
Vice President
Ruth has worked for the Maryland Emergency Management Agency since 1991, was a member of the Landmarks Preservation Commission 1986-1998, and on the Executive Board of the Baltimore County Historic Trust 1986-present. McDaniel College; M.A. University of Arizona
Ms. Wendy McIver
Recording Secretary
Wendy is a long-time community activist in Monkton. She is one of the founders of GSGCC and has been an active member ever since. She served on the committee that drafted the Hereford Plan and was a delegate to the 2000 and 2010 Baltimore County Master Plan Committees. She has been appointed to the Landmarks Preservation Commission for the 3rd District. She is currently Recording Secretary of GSGCC. Professionally, she is a former teacher and has worked in the investment community for several years at AEGON and American Express Financial Advisors. She currently works part time for Nationwide Insurance. B.S., Bucknell University.
Mr. Andy Rathgeber
Treasurer
Andy is a resident of Freeland and has been active in community issues for over 8 years. He is currently President of the Freeland Community Association, and is active in the Music Ministry at his church. Andy is a Project Manager at AAI Corporation. B.S., Business Management, University of Phoenix
Mr. Lee Bishop
Lee owns the Nationwide Insurance Agency in Monkton and has been active in the Hereford Optimist Club, Hereford Community Assocation, the Baltimore County Farm Bureau, and the Sparks Glencoe Community Assocation. He was a founding board member of the Maryland Agricultural Resource Center. University of Baltimore
Ms. Kirsten Burger
Kirsten has been an NCP Board member since the founding of the organization. She is currently the President of the Sparks-Glencoe Community Planning Council.
Ms. Alice Chalmers
Alice is a business professional with a background in Finance and Operations. She co-founded North County Preservation to focus on information gathering and education on land use issues for North County residents and businesses. Recently, Alice has been involved in looking at ways to improve the sustainability of local agriculture, in coordination with producers, businesses, county officials, and community groups. Alice has also volunteered in the local school system, and local community organizations.
Ms. Allison Doriss
Mr. Glenn Elseroad
Glenn is President of the Hanover Road Association and owns 500+ acres of farm land, with 350+ in preservation. He is a member of the Valley's Planning Council and the Crossroads Church in Westminster.
Mr. George McCeney
George moved to Northern Baltimore County in 1967 to teach for twenty-five years for The Board of Education. After retiring he became a Board member of what is now the Sparks-Glencoe Community Planning Council and later served as its president for four years. He serves on The Board of Trustees of The international Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky and takes an active role in the International Bluegrass Music Association in Nashville. He authors articles for Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine and is a songwriter.
Mr. T. Bryan McIntire
Bryan served as County Councilman for the 3rd District for 16 years and was a leader in preservation.
Mr. Irving J. Spitzberg, Jr.
Irving is the immediate past and founding President of NCP and continues a lifetime of troublemaking as a university professor, dean, national higher education executive, business consultant and immigration lawyer, with his commitment to keeping the North County green. He lives with his wife, Dr. Virginia Thorndike, in Monkton/Hereford.
Ms. Cathy Tipper
After two years of involvement with the Ag Profitability Study, Cathy became the coordinator for the New Farmer Trainee Program which was one of the study's recommended initiatives. She enjoys gardening and exercising outdoors. Currently, she offers book keeping services and her education focused on finance and marketing. Previously, Cathy worked at Oldfield's School as a teacher, administrator, and coach. Prior to being a mom, she worked at McCormick in Human Relations. Her claim to fame was her job as a deckhand on the original Pride of Baltimore.
Dr. Jane Wolfson
Jane is an ecologist by training, an entomologist by trade but currently serves as an academic, directing the Environmental Science and Studies programs at Towson University. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of MARC, the Maryland Agricultural Resource Council, and an advisor to the New Farmer Trainee Program. On campus she is involved with all the environmentally related committees [or so it seems]. She also is actively involved [as Secretary/Treasurer] in the Council of Environmental Deans and Directors, an association of representatives from ~180 institutions who come together to improve the quality, stature and effectiveness of academic environmental programs at U.S. universities and colleges.
